CT Kits vs Spindle Kits on Grain Carts
OEM Scale Kit vs. Scale-Tec Scale Kit
Some models of grain carts have two different types of scale systems offered. The information in this section provides a detailed explanation as to the differences of the scale systems and when it would be more appropriate to utilize one over the other. Both scale systems offer advantages pending your need.
Primary Difference
The primary difference in the scale kit design, is the load cell types provided on the rear axles of the grain cart. Below are some illustrations and detailed information to identify why you would want to consider one over the other.
CT Scale Design

- Easier to install initially.
- If using Wide Floater Tires, this kit is usually more accurate.
- This system is more susceptible to mechanical binding and can have 5% or more error when unlevel or binding.
- Commonly higher replacement item compared to spindle load cells due to the abuse on the rear spindle.
The only time Scale-Tec recommends the CT Load Cell system is if the grain cart has wide metric floater tires. If you do not have the wide flotation tires, it is best to utilize the spindle type.

- More time consuming to install.
- Provides better scale accuracy for carts with Tires Smaller Than 1100mm. 1-1.5% error.
- Provides better durability in field environment over CT type of Load Cells.
- Hardened at higher capacity tolerance more than original spindles on grain cart.
