How to Identify a Remote or Serial Port

Digi-Star Ports

The port on the left is a serial port.  It has 8 male pins on the bottom of the indicator.  Serial ports may be labeled as Serial, Printer, COM1/COM2, J904, or J905.

The port on the right is a remote port.  It has 8 female holes on the bottom of the indicator.  Remote ports may be labeled as remote or J903.

Weigh-Tronics Remote Port

The port above is a remote port.  It has 9 male pins on the bottom of the indicator.  Weigh-Tronics remote ports are typically not labeled.
